This international competition takes place every two years in Prague. Prof. Karel Patras was an important Czech harpist and pedagogue of the 20th century. He studied the harp at the State Conservatory and Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Already as a student at the conservatory, he was involved in the Czech Philharmonic. His teaching career began in 1959 when he joined the State Conservatory and later became a professor at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.

The goal of our competition is to make harp playing more visible and popular, to support mutual meetings and cooperation, and to compare the playing level of young harpists.

The competition is one-round for students under 26 years of age and for all school grades.
